Monday 21st July

Visited Kings Langley- another laundry stop and had coffee so that we could use the wifi. Vodaphone coverage has been quite poor this holiday and whenever I try to reply to email I keep being told that there is a problem.

We past under the M25 and for once the traffic was not stationary.

Moor hens in residence was the sign on this strange boat.

Some of the gardens made the most of the canal.

Bridge 164 allows access to The Grove, an 18th Century mansion. Now a golf club but the local landowner demanded an ornamental bridge when the canal was built through his land.

Just round the corner we came upon this interesting sight!

The narrowboat had not been secured firmly at the back and had drifted across the canal. Luckily a passing walker and someone working in the garden rescued it.

We could now see the Tube train to Watford passing overhead ( but never at the correct time for a photograph). We did 12 locks today and were pleased to get a very quiet mooring just before Rickmansworth lock.

We have been pleasantly surprised at how quiet the moorings have been considering that we are not far from London. There are no planes overhead and transport links are good. No wonder there are so many liveaboards in this area!
