Saturday 9th August

Sunshine! After the rain of last night this was a welcome sight. A mooring space became available on the quay so Graham moved the boat to make exiting easier. We had a quick look around Staines with Fiona, did some shopping and set off about 12.15. We noticed some other pleasant moorings next to a park -worth noting for another time although ours were more convenient for the town.

Fiona qualified to wear a crew T shirt even though the locks are automatic as she had slept on board and did the hoovering!

We moored in Egham on free 24 hr. moorings. We intended to move on later in the afternoon but decided to walk to Runnymede to see if there were any vacant mooring points. Coming across these notices at frequent intervals we decided to stay where we were!

A traditional paddle boat which had featured in the Films Greystoke and Chaplin was passing by.

A storm is forecast for tomorrow. The hatches are battened down. After such a lovely sunny day it doesn't seem possible. We shall see.
