Friday 15th August

Through Reading this morning and we passed the entrance to the Kennet and Avon Canal. We could have turned left here and we would have been home in a few days! Maybe one year.

It took ages to cruise passed the site of the Reading Festival. It must be enormous with a temporary footbridge across the river for festival goers. You couldn't see much because of all the hoardings but you could follow the path of fairy lights which showed how big it is.

Just had to check we were in the right country when the African Queen came towards us.

Some of the locks are enormous with the ability to pack in lots of boats of all shapes and sizes.

A very large Llama farm near Whitchurch. It proved difficult to get a photo as they were all eating and they kept disappearing behind hedges.

We moored for lunch near Pangbourne and I liked the sign on the boat behind us.

Chris bravely took the tiller as we headed for Wallingford, our stop for the night.

A rather unusual summer house on the Thames.

Wallingford church Spire and market place.
