Thursday 1st August 2013

Summer has returned and after the rain of yesterday we are not sorry. Spent some time yesterday looking at the route maps and thinking about the list which the boat has developed. We decided that the waste tank probably needs emptying. It certainly isn't full but as it is situated at one side of the boat we decided that was why we were probably on a slant. There is a gauge but that has never really worked. Of course the problem is finding a 'pump out' station when you need one. We finally decided to go back to one which we saw yesterday. You cannot just turn the boat round so we had to go on to a winding hole which necessitated going through 1 swing bridge and 1 lift bridge. We did this and sailed back passed the Love Heart and Swizzles factory again but you couldn't turn where the marina was situated so we continued on to Whaley Bridge ( already spent 3 nights there), filled with water, turned the boat again, had lunch and came back to the pump out. Photo is of Whaley Bridge. It was a very convenient place for us because of the train station for the family visiting and for our trip to Buxton.

It doesn't look very sunny here but it became warmer as the afternoon progressed. After the pump out it was back passed the Swizzle factory and the next forested area - which always smells of wild garlic and is such a contrast after the sweets!

We passed some lovely ducks and decided to moor in the same place as last night and had a  BBQ.

We are about 50 yds further back so after 5 hours of sailing we have made negative progress! Lovely spot and at least I know where to go for the newspaper in the morning!
