Saturday 3rd August 2013

No sailing today, a chance to catch up on housework ( sadly you still need to do cleaning on a boat! ), shopping and some maintenance. Photo is Graham doing running repairs on the back boards as the soundproofing was separating a little from the wood.

We had some tremendous rain last night so the visit to the nearest pub - about 50yds. has been put on hold until tonight. Feel we should support them as they are very keen on boaters!

Marple has a good range of shops and we could also see the Hilton hotel building of Manchester (Thursday 25th July blog) in the distance. We have been travelling a lot since then- but haven't come very far!

Did all the ironing this afternoon and then took a walk to see the locks which caused all the drama last Sat. I'm seated by the one where I managed to get stuck.

The area where we are moored suddenly became very busy about 5pm. A work boat had pulled up alongside 2 trip boats and was filling them with diesel and pumping them out. There are no facilities for this here so we think that the trip boats have a regular appointment to get them sorted for the next week.
