Wednesday 13th July 2016

We woke to cloudy skies but NO rain. Thank you to all those who have been emailing me details of the sun dances which you have been doing.
Before the final lock in Alrewas you pass under a road bridge and for once the graffiti is planned and attractive.

On to Fradley where most of the locks were either set for us or there was a volunteer lock helper. The photo shows Graham taking the boat into Junction Lock and then turning sharp left into the Coventry canal.

Along the Coventry Canal and past the Whittington Firing Ranges. Definitely not a place for mooring.

At Fazeley we turned right towards Birmingham and immediately passed under Watling street bridge and we were now on the Birmingham and Fazeley canal.

This is new territory for us and the sun even made an appearance although the wind was still cool.

No one knows why this footbridge required towers at each end but it is certainly different.

It has been a quiet day for locks but the next two should be more strenuous as we make our ascent into Birmingham.
