Wednesday 10th July 2013

Today we just sailed back to Cheddleton to take a trip on the restored Churnet Valley railway. The Diesel engine and carriages were of 1940's/ 50's vintage and the ticket office at Froghall looked like something the Secret 7 would have encountered on their adventures

The waiting room at Consall station is cantilevered over the canal. Rather disconcerting for the canal boat helm manoeuvring along a single width section.

At Cheddleton we were also able to look around the old Flint Mill. There was a photo of the last miller and his family. His youngest daughter is 94 and lives in a cottage about 20yds from where she was born!
