Thursday 12th/ Friday 13th July 2018

Two days in one this time as we were just cruising along the Nene, tackling locks as they cropped up and eventually arriving in Peterborough which is 53 miles and 37 locks from Northampton which we left on Sunday. Alwalton was our stop on Thursday evening and you could actually walk to a village here which had lovely houses

and a convenient pub for a drink as the weather is still fantastic.

We had passed under a few old and new bridges in Stibbington. This one dated from 1795

I feel that it is time for the obligatory photo of cows in water.

This photo shows how dry the fields are with so little rain this summer.

On Friday we went through a rather large lock at Orton Sluice. Luckily there was not too much water coming over the weir as the force was bad enough and would be much worse in wet weather.

From a distance we wondered what this strange structure was until we read in the book that there is a sculpture park here. We still don’t know what it is supposed to be.

Now safely moored in Peterborough and heading out for a Laundrette visit before exploring tomorrow.
