Tuesday 4th July 2017

We covered about 9 miles today but it was broken into morning and early evening cruising. We left our mooring about 9.30 am and filled with water on our way to Chorley. The canal passes to the east of the town but one of the old mills has been changed into a retail outlet complete with Camelot turrets. We didn't stop.

Tuesday is mega market day in Chorley and there were so many stalls both inside and outside.

Graham was certainly tempted by the cafes and a big breakfast (for lunch) was called for!

We returned to the boat and were then off to the Laundrette. Washing and drying completed we decided to move on to the top of the Wigan Flight of 21 locks with a view to going down tomorrow. We moored at 6.50pm. There are restrictions on the entry times due to water shortages. There do not seem to be many boats waiting to cover the flight so we hope that we manage to share with someone.  A boat passed us this evening which had taken 6 hours to come up.

A lock keeper arrives at 8am. So we should find out more then.
